With the objective of encouraging innovation and skill development in India, Boeing, the American multinational company that manufactures aeroplanes, satellites and missiles, recently launched its innovation leadership development programme. The platform will be of immense benefit to the students and faculty of Indian universities, as well as to budding startups.

The Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD) programme will encourage innovation and help innovators transform their ideas into practical business products, which are capable of shaping the Indian aerospace and defence, in the future.

Applications are invited from those interested with ideas pertaining to aerospace, autonomous vehicles, advanced manufacturing, augmented and virtual reality, analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, materials, robotics and internet of things.

Boeing recognises the potential of India’s rapidly-growing entrepreneurial space. It is, therefore, eager to work on developing the skills available in the country, and channelise them towards the future benefit of the aerospace sector.

The launch of BUILD, will offer Indian students, academia and entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain from Boeing’s vast experience and partner networks. It will also give them a platform to showcase their ideas and innovations. The Company will be selecting the finalists for its BUILD boot camps, with the help of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of Delhi, Gandhinagar, Mumbai and Madras. It has also tied up with IISc-Bangalore, T-Hub Hyderabad and KIIT Bhubaneshwar to select the finalists.

In September, on the occasion of the Boeing Innovation Day, the teams that make it to the regional-level finals will receive the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of subject-matter experts. There are attractive cash prizes for the winners too.
