Microsoft hires 35 MIT students at Rs 44 lakh package

Thirty-five students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) have bagged jobs with Microsoft at an annual salary package of Rs 44 lakhs. Offers were also made by Amazon, Adobe, Bajaj Finserv, BlackRock, Chargebee, Flipkart, Hevodata, SAP Labs, Cisco Systems, Fidelity Investment, Oracle, Sabre Travels, Citrix R&D, Cloudera, Commvault, Deutsche India, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Hevodata, HPE, JP Morgan, Komprise, Nvidia, Cohesity, SAP Labs, Tejas Networks, UBS Business, VM Ware, Wells Fargo, and Western Digital, who were part of this online placement drive, which is still underway.

About 292 students bagged jobs and internships at the placement drive, with Rs 18.2 lakh being the average package being offered. Never before has Microsoft made so many offers at Manipal.

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has waived off the fee for students who have lost the sole earning member in their family during the programme period. The Ramdas M Pai Scholarship scheme was also introduced to mark the occasion of Ramdas M. Pai, chancellor, MAHE.

The scholarship, which earlier supported students who had lost a parent due to COVID-19, has now been extended to all undergraduate and postgraduate students who have lost the sole breadwinner of the family to some disease or accident during their study period.

Microsoft was an active participant at the placement drives at the three Birla Institutes of Technological Sciences (BITS) campuses as well. At the pre-placement season for 2021 hiring at BITS, in addition to Microsoft, big names including Google, Amazon, Adobe, DE Shaw, Salesforce, Cisco, Uber and ServiceNow made pre-placement offers to students of BITS.
