Hindustan Platinum has announced the appointment of Vijayalakshmi Iyer as head – human resources. She takes over the mandate to lead the company’s talent strategy, culture building and organisational effectiveness.
Iyer moved to Hindustan Platinum from Astec Lifesciences, where she was head of human resources from April 2024 to June 2026. Astec, a subsidiary of Godrej Agrovet, saw her drive people management and human capital initiatives across the business.
With over 18 years in HR leadership, Iyer has worked across retail, infrastructure, manufacturing and aviation. Before Astec, she was the deputy general manager – HR at Otis Elevator from September 2021 to May 2024, where she managed the HR generalist function for the West Region in India.
Between June 2019 and September 2021, she served as senior human resources manager at Celebi NAS Airport Services India. There she oversaw HR operations for 2400+ employees covering recruitment, training, performance, rewards and retention, while also contributing to business strategy as part of the Local Management Committee.
Iyer spent 8 years at Siemens India from April 2014 to June 2019. She held roles as a senior HR manager for the transformer business unit, managing 600+ employees, and later as HR BP for digital industries sales. Her work included succession planning, leadership coaching, union negotiations, and leading a smooth restructuring and retraining of 700+ employees during COVID-19.
She was HR business partner at HyperCITY Retail India from December 2010 to March 2014, and assistant manager – HR at HyperCITY from November 2007 to December 2010. She started her career at Reliance Retail as an assistant manager HR from May 2007 to November 2007.
Across organisations, her focus areas have included workforce planning, industrial relations, learning & development, statutory compliance and employee engagement. At Hindustan Platinum, she will aim to strengthen HR systems to support business growth.
