Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, “We have decided to make 35,000 temporary employees of Group C and D permanent.”

On March 22, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the Group C and D contractual employees of the Punjab government will be made permanent. About 35,000 temps in the Group C and D categories have been made permanent.

The Chief Secretary has been officially directed to ensure that there are no more outsourced or contractual employees.

Earlier this month, the Punjab Cabinet had proposed providing 10,000 government jobs in the police department and 15,000 in other government departments.

With this move for regularisation, more youth from the State will bag government jobs through a fair and transparent process based on merit.

Teachers across the state will also benefit from this move to regularise jobs. The schools in Punjab have many teacher posts vacant, whereas qualified and eligible teachers have been holding protests against the state government for not regularising their services. The Chief Minister has issued directives for all vacant posts to be filled.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting him to regularise the services of about 4,500 employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

These, who were given jobs under the Regular Muster Roll (RMR) category, handle various crucial tasks in the national capital and have been seeking regularising for years now. They want to be considered for various vacancies in the NDMC.
