Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that Agniveers who are not absorbed into the Armed Forces post their four-year tenure, under the Agnipath scheme, will be given jobs in the Harayana government.

According to Khattar, the Agniveers who wish to be part of the state government will be guaranteed jobs there, and be hired for Group C jobs, while those who wish to join the police force will be given relevant opportunities in the force.

Meanwhile, Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group also assured that the Group would hire Agniveers.

He tweeted that the “discipline & skills Agniveers gain will make them eminently employable” and also indicated that the Mahindra Group “welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable young people.”

He said that the training received by the Agniveers will make them employable in various areas such as operations, administration and supply chain management.

Harsh Goenka, chairman, RPG Enterprises also tweeted his interest in hiring them in his Group. He tweeted that the RPG Group would welcome the opportunity to employ trained Agniveers post their short four-year stint. He also said, “I do hope other corporates will also join us to take this pledge and assure our youths of a future”.

However, none of the industrialists specified the roles or positions to which these Agniveers would be hired.

The Centre has already approved reservation of 10 per cent of the vacant posts in the Defence Ministry for Agniveers.
