The UAE government has introduced the ‘Work Bundle,’ a comprehensive initiative to streamline employee residency processes and work permits in private- sector companies. Initially launched in Dubai, the project will progressively extend to cover other emirates.
This initiative caters to the business community by providing a single platform for private-sector companies to complete employment services, including renewal, cancellation, medical examination, and fingerprinting. The project is a result of close cooperation between various government entities, supported by Digital Dubai to facilitate seamless data exchange.
The initiative announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, comes as part of the ongoing “Zero Bureaucracy” programme. It is aimed at enhancing government efficiency. Terming it as an ‘Employment Package,’ he highlighted that it has been designed to expedite and simplify residency and employment processes in alignment with the vision for government excellence.
The Employment Package aims to reclaim 62 million working days previously dedicated to government-related procedures, reducing 25 million annual processes and generating substantial savings.
Furthermore, aligned with the broader Zero Bureaucracy programme, the Work Bundle seeks to simplify and shorten government procedures, eliminating unnecessary requirements to enhance efficiency and flexibility in the UAE.
As a key component of the UAE’s digital-transformation efforts, the programme aims to improve the country’s competitiveness in global indicators related to business establishment and management. By consolidating services into a single platform, the project enhances the customer experience, cutting short procedures, required steps, visits, and transaction time significantly.
The programme will be accessible through the “Invest in Dubai” platform in its initial phase, with plans for availability on other government digital platforms in the future. The streamlined process includes unified applications, work permit issuance, and completion of residence procedures, contributing to the overall goal of simplifying processes and reducing time and effort for businesses and individuals.
