XLRI summer interns offered average stipend of Rs 1.28 lakhs per month

XLRI – Xavier School of Management has completed its Summer Internship Placement Process (SIP) for its 470-strong 2021-23 batch of students. The SIP covered the business management and human resource management programmes across XLRI Jamshedpur and Delhi-NCR campuses. Rs 6.8 lakh for two months was the highest stipend offered in the BFSI sector. Several reputed organisations from the FMCG, consulting, pharma, IT and e-commerce, and telecom sectors participated in the placement process, in addition to some government agencies.

Maximum offers came from Amazon, The Boston Consulting Group, Bain and Company, Accenture Strategy, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Deloitte, Aditya Birla Group, and Hindustan Unilever. The average monthly stipend for the top 10 percentile students was Rs 1,82,000 per month, while for the top 25 percentile students, it was Rs 1,63,500 per month.

Despite the pandemic, the median stipend for the batch went up to Rs 1.27 lakhs per month, while the average stipend offered was Rs 1.28 lakhs per month. This shows an increase of over 16 per cent and five per cent compared to the previous year.

Maximum positions were offered in consulting, sales & marketing, and BFSI. About 25 per cent of the batch received offers from consulting and advisory firms. Information technology and e-commerce firms hired 22 per cent of the batch. About 17 per cent got offers from FMCG, while 10 per cent got selected by the BFSI sector.

The most popular roles were in consulting and advisory, sales & marketing, as well as finance. Other roles included those in product management, business development, brand management, analytics and strategy.
