In its bid to navigate the intense competition in the world’s largest auto market, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, Xpeng has unveiled ambitious plans for 2024. The company is looking to expand its workforce by about 4,000 employees. It will also invest more in artificial intelligence (AI) to propel advancements in intelligent driving.
The announcement was made by He Xiaopeng, chief executive officer, Xpeng, in an internal letter to employees. He emphasised that the recruitment drive will mark a 25 per cent expansion of the company’s workforce, supported by Volkswagen, from the headcount of 15,829, as at the end if the year 2022.
The company’s commitment to innovation extends to a substantial 3.5 billion yuan ($486.36 million) investment in AI research and development for intelligent driving technology. Additionally, the company will also launch about 30 new products or updated models within the next three years.
In the upcoming year, the company expects a high-speed positive cycle by the fourth quarter or even earlier.
