Apollo Global Management has appointed Piyali Chowdhry as the head of human capital for India. Chowdhry will be leading the HR function for the financial services firm in the country. She has more than two decades of experience in the HR domain and has spent most of her career in the financial services and banking sector.

An alumni of XLRI, Chowdhry started her career with Citi Bank as a management associate. During her considerably long tenure at Citi, she honed her skills working in different roles in the HR function. Chowdhry spent 12 years at Citi and held her last position as the HR lead, heading HR for a joint venture startup between Citi and an Indian conglomerate.

Moving on from Citi, Chowdhry joined Barclays as the senior HRBP in 2008. In this role, she was the deputy HR head for the Bank in India. Chowdhry also took care of learning and development in this role.

After Barclays, Chowdhry spent almost four years at Nomura as the HR lead. It was in 2013 that she joined JP Morgan Chase as the head-HR for corporate and investment banking, with technology and operations.

In her over seven-year long tenure at JP Morgan Chase, Chowdhry saw two elevations and served her last position as head of HR for corporate centres in India.

Chowdhry also carries a graduate degree in psychology from IP College of Women, Delhi. During her MBA, she did a three-month internship with Unilever.
