Aptia, the recently launched administrator of pensions, health and benefits, has roped in Roopa Abraham Kochhar as its new chief people officer (CPO). In her new role, Kochhar will spearhead Aptia’s people team, enhancing its capabilities globally across the UK, US, India and Portugal.
With two decades of experience in human resources, Kochhar commenced her career with Allianz’s greenfield joint venture in India, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. She joined the company in the year 2001 as head-HR for three years, that us, till 2013.
She later took on the role of director-HR at Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) India in 2013. After four years, in 2016, she returned to the Allianz Group HQ in Munich, holding positions as head-HR and change (Allianz SE). Subsequently, she held the role of global head-HR and change for Allianz Partners, for the period 2019-2022.
Keen to begin work, Kochhar is relying on her “wealth of experience” to “contribute to Aptia’s growth by attracting top talent and fostering a workplace culture rooted in a people-first mentality. ”

Aptia, officially launched on 1 January, 2024, through a deal funded by global private equity house Bain Capital, has acquired Mercer’s UK pensions and US health and benefits administration businesses. Currently, Aptia manages pensions and benefits for over seven million people across 1,100 clients.
