    Mastercard rejigs HR leadership

    Mastercard, the payment processing firm has announced a leadership change in the HR department. The company has elevated Joseph Fernandes as SVP & Head, People & Capability, South Asia and Priti Singh, who previously held this position for four years has moved on to a larger role for leading the company’s People and Capability function for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

    Fernandes joined Mastercard in 2017 and has been leading the HR for company’s tech hub in Pune as the VP-HR.

    In his new role, Fernandes will lead the team responsible for nurturing Mastercard’s talent pool in India and other South Asian markets such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal. He will drive the values of diversity, equality and inclusion, and further strengthen the company’s position as “most valued to work for”. He will be responsible for managing Mastercard’s 8000 large workforce, which is the largest for the company outside US across departments such as Technology, Products & Innovation, Cyber & Intelligence, Data & Services, International Markets and other verticals.

    Fernandes carries more than 20 years of experience in leading HR in technology sector. He has worked for brands like JP Morgan Chase & Co., HSBC Software (India) Development Centre, Tata Technologies and more. He holds a Master’s degree in Personnel Management from Pune University.

    “Quality of talent is the cornerstone of success for a world-leading technology company such as Mastercard. I’m excited to lead the People & Capability function in South Asia where my focus will remain on deepening the inclusive work culture of the company and enhancing capabilities,” shares Fernandes.

    On the other hand Singh has been working with Mastercard for over five years. She joined the company as VP-HR for South Asia, leading HR for Technology Hubs, International Markets, Data & Services, Cyber Intelligence business units.
