Spinny, a full-stack used car marketplace, which recently turned unicorn, has appointed Payal Nambiar as its new head-HR, to spearhead the HR function. Talking to HRKatha, Nambiar describes that she is humbled to join Spinny at this pivotal time when the Company is planning to invest in its customers and employees to meet the evolving business demands of today.

“After the several rounds of funding received last year, the Company is focused on expanding its retail footprint to take on competition. They are working to get on board the right capabilities that can further build the brand and connect deeper with the target audience,” shares Nambiar exclusively with HRKatha.

Nambiar moves to Spinny after spending three years with Metro Cash & Carry, where she was the SVP-HR and was responsible for corporate HR and store operations across India. She led various facets of HR at Metro Cash & Carry, including talent acquisition & management, succession planning, compensation & benefits, as well as training and development.

During her tenure with Metro Cash & Carry, she implemented several initiatives to build a highly engaged, agile and customer-centric organisation. In addition, her versatile and high-impact leadership spearheaded HR’s evolution into a central component of overall business strategy focussing on redesigning core employee processes to create a more positive employee experience.

Carrying over 17 years of experience in HR, Nambiar has worked for well established and new-age businesses such as Genpact, Times Internet, Samsung, Vodafone and Arvind Group where she played a crucial role in implementing cutting-edge people practices and shaping high-performing cultures. Additionally, she has the advantage of having worked in diverse sectors such as retail, telecom, IT and technology.

An alumna of Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, Nambiar has obtained a master’s degree in HRM.
