Grid-India has appointed Paresh Ranpara as director (human resources). He has moved from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). where he was general manager (human resources). In the early years of his career, he has also worked with GE Lighting as personnel officer.

This new assignment will see Ranpara looking into all strategic human resource functions of Grid-India, including the coordination and implementation of human resource and industrial relations policies, in addition to talent management and human resource development.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had recommended Ranpara for the post of director (HR) of Grid-India in February this year. Out of five candidates considered for the post, two candidates were from Grid-India, one each from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDSL), one from MECON and one from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam.

Backed by almost three decades of experience in the power sector, Ranpara is known for his work in the state-owned as well as private companies in the state of Gujarat. While heading the HR at GUVNL, he contributed significantly to the policy-making of the companies in the Group.

He helped design and implement leadership development programmes as part of succession planning at Madhya Gujarat Vij Company (MGVCL). He also designed and executed HR systems as per the needs of the organisation in addition to supervising corporate communication. A certified assessor, Ranpara is equipped with the skills and talent required to design performance-management systems and offered his expertise in organisation restructuring, manpower planning as well as right sizing.
