    Radhashyam Mahapatro to join NALCO as HR director

    The Government has appointed Radhashyam Mahapatro as the new HR director of the National Aluminium Company (NALCO). He will be assuming charge on 1 January, 2020, and will be responsible for the IR and HR functions in the Company.

    Currently, Mahapatro is working as director (personnel) at Central Colafields Limited (CCL).

    Mahapatro will be succeeding Basant Kumar Thakur. With more than 26 years of experience in HR and IR, he has worked in various sectors, such as power, coal and oil.

    He joined CCL in 2013 and is known for bringing a paradigm shift in the HR, IR, welfare and CSR space.

    A physics graduate from Khallikote College, Behrampur, Odisha, Mahaptro completed his postgraduation in personnel management, industrial relations and labour welfare.

    He was sponsored by Coal India to undergo training in advanced technology and organisational culture, as part of an Advanced Management Programme in Germany, Sweden.

    His areas of interest include productivity improvement, rural development, poverty alleviation, environment and ecology. He is known for the passion with which he brought about reforms in administration to make it responsive to the needs and requirements of the people. With transparency and leadership being his primary strengths, he has a strong belief in teamwork.
