Ten automotive labs will be set up in India as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). This collaboration will help promote skill development amongst youth across the country.

As per the agreement, Honda will provide all the relevant tools and equipment required by these 10 learning centres under NSDC, at Kolkata, Guwahati, Ranchi, Patna, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Vijayawada, Dehradun, Varanasi and Cuttack, which will enable skill development.

Honda will also facilitate the establishment of a platform for students practising trade-specific skills on various facets of vehicle maintenance and repair. This will provide hands-on experience to the students and make them job-ready. This tie-up is expected to benefit at least 1,200 young students by next year.

In the words of Pradeep Pandey, senior vice-president, customer service, HMSI, “We will develop 10 training labs under this tie-up to empower local youth across the country. This will not only provide them industry-specific skills to enhance their employability but also offer skilled technical manpower to the automotive industry.”

Honda has also collaborated with many state governments to develop skilled manpower for the automobile sector. Recently, it adopted two Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) at Rohtak (Haryana) and Jaffarpur (Delhi).
