The MoU signed by the two will ensure that all colleges affiliated with AICTE will adopt LinkedIn Placements.
LinkedIn, India, recently signed an MoU with the Ministry of Human Resource Development. As part of the agreement, LinkedIn’s recently launched, Placements product will be adopted by all Indian colleges affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
In line with LinkedIn’s commitment to democratise opportunity and learning, Placements provides a level playing field for all students, regardless of their location or college. It allows them to take an online assessment test, which gives them direct access to thousands of openings in 35 top corporates in India.
Placements was piloted in November 2015. Almost a year later, in September 2016, the company opened the product to students of all colleges and universities in India. In less than eight weeks of the launch, over 200 thousand students registered for the product and there were over 1.2 million job applications.
“We’re excited to work with the Ministry of HRD and AICTE to provide students better accessibility to the Placements product. Our objective with Placements is to help India’s best talent get access to job opportunities, regardless of their location. We hope to bring students closer to their dream jobs through this platform. With this partnership, our vision will quickly become a reality,” said Akshay Kothari, country manager and head of product, LinkedIn India.
In a blog, Kothari also shared how smooth and fast the process of closing this deal with the Indian government was, which reflects their dedication to education and employment in the country. Having said that, such collaborations are sure to improve the accessibility of employment in India, helping organisations leverage the best talent from across the remotest of regions.
