The car maker organised this two-day programme to discuss the best HR practices in the industry and ways to nurture these within the organisation.

In order to leverage and adopt the best practices in the human resources vertical, German car maker, Volkswagen, organised a ‘National HR Managers Connect’ in Goa — a two-day programme where the HR leads from Volkswagen dealerships across India came together to discuss the sought- after HR practices in the industry, and how the Company can nurture those practices in the organisation.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, the theme of the event was the three Es—engage, educate and excite. The conference comprised closed-door interactive sessions with peers, experts and business leaders.

The National HR Managers Connect aimed at finding out the change that HR, as a profession, is undergoing. Also, the attendees were engaged in activities that required them to work as a team and overcome each other’s obstacles. As a result of such team-building activities, the HR leads were able to gather insights about the HR practices across zones, and also the ways in which they can be imbibed and improved. These activities also allowed the people from different zones and dealerships to interact with each other.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, the theme of the event was the three Es—engage, educate and excite. The conference comprised closed-door interactive sessions with peers, experts and business leaders.

Speaking at the inaugural edition of the event, Steffen Knapp, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, “At Volkswagen, talent development and retention is our utmost priority, and at the heart of this is the people who represent it. It is, therefore, time for leaders to elevate its strategic importance. The objective of this conference is to get all HR leads to work in sync, as one brand- one voice, to deliver the best experience and build brand connect. The initiative is not just about what we do, but how we do things, thereby creating a smoother path for supporting its overall goals.

Moreover, it helps that the leadership team is speaking in a single voice and providing consistent messaging as we move into 2018.”

National HR Managers Connect also aims to help the dealers and the Company strategise their HR practices in a progressive manner across all levels of hierarchy.

As part of the event, the best HR managers across India were awarded in two categories: Best HR Practice and Best HR Manager. A total of 18 awards were handed out, namely Top 3 Best HR Managers and Top 3 Best HR practices, zone-wise, across three zones by Knapp and Kumar Priyesh, head – dealer development, Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
