The Government of Bhopal has announced the launch of the Chief Minister’s Group Health Insurance Scheme, which will cover up to 12.5 lakh employees and pensioners. Under this scheme, all state-government employees are eligible for free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per annum and up to Rs 10 lakh per annum for some critical diseases. In addition, the Out Patient Department (OPD) treatment in hospitals will also be free up to Rs 10,000 per annum.

All state-government employees from various departments, as well as government school teachers and retired personnel will be covered under this scheme.

The scheme will also benefit contractual employees and is optional for employees of corporations as well as officers of All India Services.

The Government will be allocating a budget of Rs 756 crore to implement this scheme. The premium cost will be deducted from the salaries of the employees and the amount will be determined through salary grades.

The beneficiary list of this scheme is still open, and the Government says that it will further include those employees who are left out.

The decision was taken and approved in the cabinet meeting by Kamal Nath, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. The cabinet has also decided to recruit 1,359 guest teachers and create 560 new posts in the Women and Child Development department.
