The state-owned steel company, the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), had tied up with Apollo Hospitals to provide healthcare services to its employees and their families.

A knowledge-sharing platform has been established by SAIL at its headquarters and unit hospitals across the country, in collaboration with Apollo Hospital, Delhi in a bid to handle the corona pandemic better.

On June 3, few SAIL employees at the company headquarters at Lodhi Road, Delhi, had tested positive for COVID-19, for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic. Immediately after, the office was closed for fumigation till June 4, and all employees had been asked to work from home.

Extensive fumigation was carried out through a third-party government agency. Precautionary measures, such as sanitisation, thermal checking and hand sanitisers had  already been put in place ever since the organisation reopened office in a staggered manner.

However, the recent cases had prompted the Company to be extra careful.

The Company had previously announced a tie-up with Max Healthcare as well on June 8 after few of its employees tested positive.

According to the agreement between Apollo and SAIL, the former will be helping the organisation set up protocols for safety and treatment, sample testing of employees and providing assistance to the workers at the company.
