Nearly 5,000 Network18 employees are set to receive a portion of their annual performance-linked pay earlier than usual, with Reliance Industries advancing the disbursement as the group approaches the listing of Jio Platforms.
The early payout was reportedly communicated by Anant M Ambani, executive director, Reliance Industries, in an internal message dated 28 October. The move brings forward part of the variable compensation that employees would ordinarily receive after the completion of the performance year. The remaining amount will be settled after the 2026–27 performance cycle, in line with the applicable company guidelines.
The decision follows another early payment initiative at Network18, where employees received their October salaries on 15 October, around two weeks ahead of the usual month-end schedule.
The advance variable-pay release has been positioned as a recognition of employees’ contribution to the group’s growth and its latest corporate milestone. The Jio Platforms listing, highlighted in the internal communication, has been presented as a significant moment in Reliance’s history, coinciding with the group’s approach to its 50th year.
For employees, the immediate impact is access to a part of their annual incentive before the regular payout cycle. However, the payment is an advance rather than a complete settlement of the year’s performance-linked compensation, with the balance remaining subject to the end-of-year process and applicable conditions.
The development also puts the spotlight on how large organisations use variable compensation to recognise workforce contributions around major business milestones. In this case, Reliance has linked the early release to the Group’s wider corporate achievements while acknowledging the role of employees across its businesses.
