Fidelity International has enhanced its parental leave policy, to benefit its 7000 plus employees. According to the new policy, fathers and secondary caregivers will now be able to avail the same amount of paid leave as the mothers or primary caregivers.

The new move will come into effect from September 1, 2020 and will be applicable in cases where children are either born or adopted on or after September.

Fathers and secondary caregivers will be able to take up to 26 weeks of paid leave offered by the Company within the first 12 months of the child’s delivery or adoption.

The move is intended to drive forward an inclusive and equal work culture for all employees. It ensures that regardless of gender, sexual orientation, location or way of becoming a parent, all individuals will be able to spend time to bond with and take care of their children till a year after the child arrives.

According to Anne Richards, CEO, Fidelity International, the new parental leave policy will be offered “globally, to all our employees.”

Being committed to diversity and inclusion, the Company focuses on treating all parents equally. This “family-friendly” policy, according to Sally Nelson, chief people officer, Fidelity International, will offer ” flexibility to support childcare needs and will transform parenthood for many families.”
