Infosys will hire more than 25,000 freshers for FY22, of which about 24,000 will be from India. The focus, of course, will be the divisions where attrition is more.

The IT major had a 2,59,619-strong workforce as on March 2021, with a significant 38 per cent being women. It posted a net addition of 10,307 employees, while attrition for the quarter stood at 15.2 per cent, compared to 10.3 per cent in Q3. The company saw a net addition of 10,307 employees.

In FY21, it took on about 21,000 freshers from the campuses, with a significant 19,000 being taken on from India. It took on about 36,000 employees in total last year.

While the Company will focus on hiring freshers, it does not intend to give up lateral hiring. It expects attrition to continue at the present rate.

In order to try and retain its best talent, Infosys is looking at focussing on continuous learning and offering opportunities to its employees to further their careers.

The Company posted a 17.47 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 5,076 crore for the March quarter.

The work-from-home model has worked in favour of Infosys. However, the Company hopes to focus more on building social capital, which it will do post return to office. It is yet to find out which approach will work best going forward, given it is willing to test the hybrid model or a mix of onsite-offsite work in the next couple of years.

Going forward, Infosys hopes to rely less on visas. Presently, 69 per cent of its workforce in the US comprises locals.
