MyGlamm, an e-commerce platform for beauty and personal care products, has appointed Kartik Rao as its chief people officer. In this new role, Rao will lead all the HR and people strategy functions at the firm, confirms Rao to HRKatha. He will work closely with the CEO and the leadership team on culture design and transformation and talent management, and spearhead mergers and acquisitions.
Rao will primarily work on the people strategy function of the Company, as MyGlamm is on its way to growing exponentially with some recent acquisitions. “Building teams with high velocity, spearheading the cultural transformation at the Company and building a strong employer brand will be some key focus areas for me in this role,” shares Rao.
There will be major talent acquisition drives in the Company and as per Rao, MyGlamm will be looking to hire people with different attributes such as versatility. Though the firm has not revealed how many people it will hire, but it is expected that the head count will be doubled.
Prior to this role, Rao was the chief people officer at Bewakoof.com, an apparel and fashion brand where he worked for almost two years. “I had a great time at Bewakoof.com and built some memorable relations with the leadership team and the CEO,” says Rao.
Rao carries a great amount of experience working in the apparel and fashion industry, coupled with some fast growing startups. He has worked with companies such as Housing.com and Benetton Group.
Before joining Bewakoof.com, Rao was with Housing.com where he joined in 2015 as the head of talent acquisition and business partnering. In this role, he lead corporate hiring and business partnering and also defined cultures and new HR processes.
After a year at Housing.com, Rao was promoted as the head of people and culture. He lead all the key HR processes, such as talent management, hiring and people development.
It was in 2010 that Rao got an opportunity to hone his skills in HR, when he joined the Benetton Group, as an HR business partner. Within five years, he quickly climbed up the corporate ladder and rose to higher ranks. He saw three promotions at Benetton and served his last position as the deputy manager – HR, where he managed four different verticals of the Group. He managed the talent function for corporate, retail stores as well as factory employees at the Benetton Group.
Rao is a Delhi University graduate in business and commerce and has also completed a certificate course in organisational development and organisational psychology, from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences
