PepsiCo will eliminate 184 warehouse positions at its Tulsa, Oklahoma, facility, with employee separations scheduled to begin on or around 15 November, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing submitted to the state.
The company said the layoffs are permanent and will affect nearly all warehouse employees at the site. However, production operations at the Tulsa facility will continue, and the restructuring does not involve the closure of the manufacturing plant.
All affected employees have been notified of the planned workforce reduction. None of the employees are represented by a union, and there are no bumping rights associated with the layoffs.
The notice was filed under the US WARN Act, which requires employers to provide advance notice of large-scale layoffs, allowing workforce agencies to offer career transition, job placement and training support to affected employees.
PepsiCo said it is helping impacted employees explore internal job opportunities and redeployment options within the Tulsa production facility and at nearby company locations where suitable vacancies are available.
Employees will continue to receive their salaries and benefits until their separation date, with retirement and group insurance benefits continuing in accordance with the company’s benefit programmes.
The layoffs are expected to begin in mid-November, during which state workforce agencies are likely to provide re-employment assistance and career-transition support to affected workers.
