Moody’s Corporation, a global risk-management company, has appointed Maral Kazanjian as its chief people officer to take charge effective 14 February, 2022. In this role, Kazanjian will not only be responsible for the Company’s strategy to attract, develop, and retain extraordinary talent but will also be a part the Company’s executive leadership team.

Prior to this, Kazanjian used to lead the HR function at We Work as its chief people officer. There, she led talent strategy and workforce planning for the Company’s global employee base. Kazanjian carries close to 25 years of professional experience and has led employee relations, talent management and employment law at various companies.

This is not Kazanjian’s first association with Moody’s. Before joining We Work, she spent more than 10 years at Moody’s where she joined as an assistant general council in 2008 and rose up the corporate ladder to serve as the Company’s MD-employment law and employee relations. She served as a member of the HR leadership team and executive diversity council.

“Now more than ever, it’s clear that our people are the key to unlocking the full potential of our company, enabling growth and resilience and delivering on our strategy as an integrated, global risk-assessment firm,” says Rob Fauber, president and chief executive officer, Moody’s. Fauber is confident that “as a longtime colleague with strong leadership experience”, Kazanjian is “uniquely positioned to advance our work in building an inclusive, dynamic and engaging workplace culture”, he adds.

Kazajian has also worked with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Kauff McGuire & Margolis in the initial phase of her career. She holds a J.D. (also known as Doctor of Law) from the Rutgers School of Law-Newark and a BA in government and psychology from Georgetown University.
