Exterro to double India headcount by end of 2022

Exterro, the preferred provider of Legal GRC software —specifically designed for in-house legal, privacy, and IT teams at Global 2000 and Am Law 200 organisations— is gearing to double its workforce by the end of this year.

In the first five months of 2022, it has already increased its team size by 16 per and now plans to expand its present 300-strong team at its Coimbatore R&D centre.

Bobby Balachandran, founder, president and CEO, Exterro, believes the 15-year old company needs to give back to the community. In all these years, Exterro has actively recruited from tier-2 and tier-3 cities, which accounts for about 70 per cent of its workforce, for its research and development operations.

The Company is expanding its India operations with a focus on employment generation.

Another office in a tier-2 city as well as a new training centre in Coimbatore — similar to its training facility in London — are on the cards.

“We aim to hire talent from tier-2 and tier-3 cities as we want to create more jobs for people from diverse backgrounds,” said Balachandran.

According to him, the focus will be on hiring “first-generation learners, people from lower income groups and people from single parent homes or who are single parents”.

The firm believes “in giving equal opportunities for the meritorious from different socio-economic backgrounds, as a diverse workforce brings different perspectives for business.”

Currently, 40 per cent of Exterro’s workforce in India comprises women and 90 per cent of employees hired in 2022 are also women. All these women have together established an employee support network — Sheroes.

“Even as more and more women are entering STEM fields in India, it does not translate into a reduced gender gap in the workforce. At Exterro, we want to eliminate this gender gap not only in terms of the number of employees we hire but also in the matter of remuneration,” said Kavitha Thangasami, vice president, global talent management and chief data scientist, Exterro.

Exterro encourages its “employees to learn from other forums and networks to inspire more women to be a part of STEM fields.”

The Company empowers legal teams to proactively and defensibly manage their legal governance, risk, and compliance (Legal GRC) requirements.
