Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has announced the elevation of Krishna Kumar Singh as the director-personnel. In this role, Singh will lead the HR function for the government-owned PSU, which employs over 60,000 people in India.
Singh is an experienced professional and is quite old in the SAIL corporate system. He carries over three decades of experience, having joined SAIL in 1987 as a management trainee (technical) at the Company’s Bhilai Steel Plant. In his 35-year long career, Singh grew up the ranks at SAIL and has accumulated immense experience in different areas such as operations, human resource development, vigilance as well as personnel and administration.
Before moving to the HR department, Singh spent 11 years at the Blooming & Billet Mill at SAIL. Prior to this appointment, Singh was the executive director-personnel and administration, at SAIL. In this role, Singh was instrumental in steering the wage negotiation at SAIL in the Apex bipartite forum-NJCS. He also played a crucial role in implementing various HR policies and frameworks such as switchover to the New Pension Scheme (NPS ) at SAIL.
In his career, Singh has worked on several initiatives in areas such as performance management, career progression planning, manpower planning, compensation and benefits management, training and development, education, industrial relations management and employee engagement.
Singh has completed his electrical engineering from IIT, BHU and also carries a post graduate diploma in human resource management.
