Ericsson has announced the launch of its centre of excellence (CoE) in collaboration with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), at Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). This pioneering CoE is poised to equip a cohort of 300 students in its inaugural year with comprehensive training in cutting-edge fields such as 5G technology and other emerging technological domains.

The centre will address the skill gap created post technological advancement in India, including launch of 5G networks, as well as wide use of smartphones and IoT devices. The centre will offer students world class training and skill-development programmes that will make them employable in the telecom sector. Job placements will also be facilitated.

The modules covered under this training will include 5G network engineering, technical training for handheld and IoT devices, and line assembly of telecom products. The training will be a mix of theory and practicals at the skill labs set up in the CoE.

Speaking on the launch, Arvind Bali, CEO, TSSC, explained how they’re committed to enhancing the baselines skills of all telecom professionals across India. He also stated that this CoE, in collaboration with Ericsson will help them fulfilling their objective. He shares,“The CoE is designed to maximise the learning potential of the local youth with a keen focus on inclusivity and technical skill development.”

Nitin Bansal, head of Ericsson India and head of network solutions for Southwest Asia, Oceania and India, Ericsson, explained how the initiative will help bridge the skill gap in the industry providing opportunities to students. “Ericsson has been a partner to India’s telecommunication sector for over 120 years and this CoE is another example of our unwavering commitment,” he stated.

Ericsson is running around 40 centres across the country to provide training in ICT and soft skills. The centres provide opportunities to underprivileged youth to boost their employability.
