The Sharjah Department for Human Resources (SDHR) partnered with the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (NAFIS) and the Higher Colleges of Technology, to organise a seminar on future skills and employment trends.

NAFIS is a governmental federal programme that aims to increase the competitiveness of Emirati human resources and empower them to occupy jobs in the United Arab Emirates’ private sector over the next five years. It was launched as part of the project to accelerate the UAE’s development journey.

The objective was to provide support to job seekers in choosing the right career or profession and in selecting the most suitable job as per their qualifications, capability and aspirations.

The event, which was held at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah, saw participation from about 168 job seekers, along with students and representatives of NAFIS and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

Participants were made familiar with skills that will be relevant in the future and the benefits of seeking a job in the private sector. Career advisors from  NAFIS spoke about the various ways of learning so that a high level of professional competency can be maintained.

The participants got a chance to hear stories of Emiratis who have made it big in their professions and have managed to achieve success in the private sector with the support of the NAFIS programme.

Additionally, 16 companies participated in an open employment day offering vacancies in various fields. On-the spot interviews took place wherein candidates could directly connect with representatives of the organisations and find suitable assignments.
