The monthly analysis, conducted by Monster India, of the online job posting activity in the country, reveals that there is a significant rise in e-recruitment in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, and other emerging cities.
The first nine months of 2018 have seen a tremendous rise in online hiring activity, which has grown by five per cent. According to the Monster Employment Index (MEI), maximum rise in recruitment has taken place in the production and manufacturing sector (54 per cent growth) followed by the home appliance sector (39 per cent), for the period January to September, 2018.
The telecom, retail and BFSI sectors followed close behind registering a growth of 26 per cent, 23 per cent and 23 per cent, respectively.
The rise in e-recruitment in the production and manufacturing sector is attributed to the Government’s efforts to give a push to this sector this year. However, the decrease in the demand volume in the engineering, construction, healthcare, BPO, ITES and IT sectors has caused a decrease in the growth momentum in e-recruiting from 13 per cent in quarter one to four per cent in quarter three. Tier-II cities have been observed to be driving the online hiring demand in 2018.
Chandigarh tops the list registering a 21 per cent growth, due to faster job growth in media and entertainment (57 per cent) and production and manufacturing (18 per cent) sectors. Jaipur follows on its heels, registering a 17 per cent growth, with BFSI as well as media and entertainment sectors registering 37 per cent and 20 per cent growth. Coimbatore and Ahmedabad registered 12 per cent and 10 per cent growth in online hiring respectively.
Surprisingly, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore have shown less inclination for online hiring.
