Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) has tied up with NASSCOM Foundation to establish yet another centre of Excellence (CoE) for training persons with disabilities (PwDs), but this time in the city of Bangalore. This is the third CoE, after one each in Noida and Delhi. It will train a minimum of 100 PwDs, and make them job ready within a year’s time. The Centre aims to place at 50 students in organisations that are already prepared in every which way, to take them on.

In addition to soft skills, communication, English language and interview skills, the trainees will be trained to do a variety of jobs in the hospitality, IT/BPM and retail industries. The centre itself is based on universal design and has been made friendly for PwDs, with barrier-free access and assistive technologies.

The initiative will go a long way in offering the Pwd community opportunities to grow in life, put their talent to good use and also become financially independent. In the past two years, the two organisations have together managed to train more than 75 PwDs and also have them placed in suitable jobs.

The COE is an integral part of HGS’ CSR activities. The training programmes have been designed by V-shesh, the training partner for this initiative, which specialises in organising training sessions for the marginalised lot.

The NASSCOm-HSF collaboration will make the PwD community, which forms almost six per cent of the country’s population, employable.
