Why are Indian employers hiring more? A good 44 per cent of the 3,146 employers surveyed said it was because their companies have grown or are growing. The Manpower Group Employment Outlook Survey for the third quarter of 2025 reveals that while 37 per cent employers are increasing hiring because of the need for the latest skills to stay competitive, 35 per cent are doing so because evolving service needs are creating new roles.
Thirty-one per cent employers have increased hiring because new ventures demand new roles, while 27 per cent are hiring because diversity efforts are opening new roles. Twenty-five per cent are hiring because specific projects cannot do without dedicated staff. Thirteen per cent employers are hiring to backfill roles that opened up in the past quarter, while 11 per cent are backfilling roles opened even before the past quarter.
The good news is that 54 per cent of employers anticipate an increase in hiring, while 12 per cent expect a drop in hiring. The Net Employment Outlook for India for the third quarter of 2025 stands at 42 per cent. This is calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers who anticipate workforce reductions from those who intend to add to headcount.
Hiring managers in the North (46 per cent) of India anticipate the strongest outlook. This is an improvement over the previous quarter and the same time last year. A significant 44 per cent employers in the eastern region have shown no change in the employment outlook, while those in the western region (41%) and the South (36%) have shown weakened outlook by 6 and 3 points, respectively.
Globally, on average, 39 per cent of employers admit to expanding their workforce to meet the demands of technological advancements. However, this trend is more pronounced among organisations in the Asia-Pacific region.
