The job profiles range from high-end managerial jobs to basic helper-level jobs

The 6th Mega Job Fair at Mohali saw about 10,000 youth being successfully placed in various jobs — right from helper level to managerial level. For the second year in succession, the Fair has managed to provide the maximum number of placements in Punjab.

While many youth were interviewed virtually by the employers on their official websites, some were personally interviewed at the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE).

Interestingly, the Fair managed to ensure that 3,000 youth from underprivileged families managed to get jobs.

The administration identified 10 poorest of the poor families in each village of the district and uploaded the details of the skills and qualifications of the youth from these families on the employment portal. This is a big step in the right direction towards ensuring that every family has a job or means of livelihood.

In August itself, the jobs were uploaded on the website www.pgrkam.com and job seekers who wished to participate had been asked to apply for posts, according to their qualifications and suitability, on the website. While the Fair had managed to place over 13,000 youth against the target of 6,000, this year, the target was reduced to 3,000 considering the ongoing pandemic situation.

It is the general practice to begin awareness drives well in advance in various parts of the district — via pamphlets, posters and so on — so that maximum youth are encouraged to participate.
