A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Bajaj Finserv and the Government of Maharshtra under which the non-banking finance firm is all set to invest Rs 5,000 crore in the city of Pune.

This investment will generate about 40,000 jobs in Pune, according to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

This is supposedly the biggest investment in the fintech segment in recent years. The project being invested in promises to be a sustainable and environment-friendly one, following green solutions via a net-zero model, and in keeping with global standards.

Pune has been attracting many investors in recent times, thanks to its conducive infrastructure and availability of talent.

Many tech companies have their offices and global capability centres or centres of excellence in the city. Now, it is fast growing into a hub for financial services too, starting with the massive Bajaj Finserv Campus.

A few months ago, Luxoft, a subsidiary of DXC Technology Company, opened a new office in Pune, India, with plans to enhance its services and capabilities for global clients. According to a report titled ‘Moving towards equality: An overview of the hiring trends for 2022’, Pune is amongst the three cities that hire the maximum number of women applicants, the other two being Hyderabad and Chennai.

Last year, TresVista, the firm that provides high-end outsourced services, had expanded its Pune delivery centre to double its size, to accommodate 700 employees.
