1 month salary as bonus for Bihar frontline healthcare workers

The Government of Bihar has announced a month’s salary as bonus for all its frontline healthcare workers this year. This is in appreciation of their efforts in helping fight the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the measures to control the spread of the virus, not only will all government offices close by 5 p.m., they will only operate with one-third of their workforce strength.

Night curfew has been imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus. As part of the new measures, all schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed from April 30 to May 15.

All religious places will now remain shut in Bihar till May 15. Shops, business establishments and mandis will be closed at 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. as was announced last week. Marriage gatherings have been restricted to 100, while funeral-related gatherings have been restricted to just 25 attendees.

It is pertitnent to mention here that on April 19, former Bihar Education Minister and MLA Mewalal Chaudhry passed away due to COVID-19 infection.

Amidst all this negativity, Bihar government has brought good news to teachers. With effect from April 2021, all teachers and librarians in Bihar will received increased salaries. In August 2020, the Bihar Education Department had announced a 15 percent increment in the salaries of teachers as well as librarians. An official notification was issued regarding the same on August 29.

This 15 percent pay hike will be on the basic salary and will be applicable to teachers appointed in 2006 and later, on a contract basis.
