The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad has beaten all other engineering institutes that are ranked much higher, including all major IITs, in terms of median salary offered to its graduates. During the 2017-18 placement season, the Institute’s graduates were offered a median salary of Rs 20.35 lakh as reported by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) data. The average package for IIIT BTech graduates has increased from Rs 10.30 lakh to Rs 23.55 lakh in the past five years. Clearly, companies, both international and domestic,

Despite being ranked 39 by NIRF, IIIT-H’s median package of Rs 20.35 lakh is way better than the median salary of Rs 13.06 lakh offered at not only IIT Madras, but at other IITs of Bombay, Delhi, Kharagpur, and so on.

The credit goes to the research-focussed curriculum offered by the Institute, which produces graduates who are more equipped than others to resolve problems, by trying out new and innovative options. The fact that the Institute primarily focusses on the computer science domain, has also acted as a reason for higher median packages. The field of computer science has been known to be a better paying one than other engineering-related domains.

In 2017, the Institute had reported 100 per cent placement with an average salary of Rs 18.8 lakh.
