Punjab cabinet approved an amendment of the Punjab Civil Services Rules in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission for its new pay scales. The change will apply to all fresh recruits taken in by the state government and its entities.
The decision to implement the pay scale at par with the central government pay scale was decided over a virtual meeting recently. The amendment applies to the new recruits and current employees appointed to their respective posts on or after July 17, 2020.
The amendment makes it clear that the monthly emoluments for all employees who joined July 17, 2020 onwards, will at least be equal to the minimum pay for their level or post. The wages will not include special pay, grade pay, annual increment and other allowances with the exception of travel allowances.
The final amount paid to them will be equal to the relevant level of the pay matrix of service and level of their posting. A letter from the finance department dated January 15, 2015 also grants allowances for probationary period along with the monthly wages.
The administrative departments are being advised by the finance department about the changed pay matrix, and thereby deciding the new appointments being made by the state employment plan. Punjab Public Service Commission, Subordinate Selection Board and departmental committees are some of the recruiting agencies actively involved in direct recruitment of new state government employees.
