TVS Motor Company, the two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturer globally, and upGrad, the edutech company, have announced free COVID-19 vaccination for all employees and their immediate family members / dependants.

TVS will cover all its 35,000 direct and indirect staff’s vaccination costs in a bid to prioritise the health and well-being of its employees and their families. Initially, those above the age of 60 and those over 45, with comorbidities will receive the vaccine.

upGrad goes a step ahead and announces its intention to cover vaccination costs for its former employees too. Therefore, its vaccination drive for the welfare of its employees will actually benefit more than 10,000 people.

The Company is already discussing the vaccination process with private providers. It is probably the first Indian company in the start-up edtech space to announce such a COVID-19 vaccination drive. It is only waiting for governmental approval.

Sify Technologies, the ICT solutions providing company, has also announced that the vaccination drive cover its employees as well as their immediate family members.

About two weeks ago, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), urged the Government to permit private companies to vaccinate their employees and families to ensure faster rollout, which, in turn, will helpt to boost the confidence of those returning to the workplace.

It was also suggested by CII, that organisations should be allowed to help in the vaccine drive for surrounding communities as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
