Diageo India today has rolled out an enhanced wellness policy for all employees that covers all employees, including the LGBT community, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

The policy, effective from July 2020, will also provide equal medical and leave benefits to same sex and live-in partners.

Similarly, all the employees will get surrogacy and fertility treatment medical benefits, as per the terms and conditions of the policy concerned.

In today’s time, when few sections of the society are undermined, this policy aims to promote an inclusive and diverse working environment.

As per an official communique, through this policy, the Company is revising and expanding the definition of ‘family’ to include ‘same sex’ and ‘live-in partners’.

The wellness policy only proves how committed Diageo India is to its diversity and inclusion agenda.

The strength of the beverage firm lies in its diversity, with each person bringing her/his own distinct experience, talent and culture, that is integral to its business success. Through the enhanced policy, the Company hopes to nurture a workplace that offers opportunities and dignity  to all.

Diageo India is one of the country’s leading beverage alcohol companies and a subsidiary of the British multinational and global leader, Diageo. It manufactures, sells and distributes a wide range of premium brands, such as Johnnie Walker, Black Dog, Black & White, VAT 69, Antiquity, Signature, Royal Challenge, McDowell’s No.1, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan.

The Company is headquartered in Bengaluru, with an employee strength of 3200 employees and 48 manufacturing facilities across the states and union territories of India.
