Proving its commitment to ensuring and improving gender diversity within the organisation, Nestle India is focussing on hiring more women. Right now, 23 per cent of the Company’s workforce comprises women. Considering that the figure was about 16 per cent in 2015, this is a remarkable improvement.
These women are employed across the eight plants of Nestle India, across the country, which employ more than 7,700 people.
In 2020, 42 per cent of all new hires were women. At its new plant in Sanand, Gujarat, where Maggi noodles will be manufactured, Nestle hopes to employ 62 per cent women. It is investing about Rs 700 crore on the plant, which is in the last stages of completion. Till now, about Rs 300 crore have been spent on improving the capacity of the existing plants of Nestle in the country.
Nestle India had posted a net profit of Rs 539 crore for the quarter ended June 2021. The standalone profit from operations during the first quarter of FY22 stood at 22.2 per cent of sales.
Recently, Nestle India was in the news for its innovative ‘masked up’ product packaging, aimed at raising awareness about COVID. The food and beverage brand had altered its product packages to show them masked up, in order to drive home the importance of wearing masks for protection. The Company had actively facilitated vaccination camps at its manufacturing locations in collaboration with the authorities.
