Government of Goa has launched the Grant of Temporary Status to Daily Wage Workers Scheme 2025. Under this scheme, all daily wage workers who have worked at state government offices or autonomous bodies for at least seven years will be eligible for temporary status. That means about 3,000 workers can take advantage of the status.
The benefit of being granted this status is that it makes them eligible for fixed monthly pay in the range of Rs 21,800 to Rs 26,800. They will also be entitled to a yearly pay hike of three per cent. Additionally, they will enjoy leave benefits and will be enrolled in social-security schemes.
This is one of the reforms that are set to take place in the state. While many recruitment rules have been updated or revised, the Goa government is also contemplating the regularisation of contract workers with a decade of service. The age has also been relaxed for certain categories of workers.
As per the reforms, to be eligible for jobs of multi-tasking staff, lower division clerk, assistants and stenographers, the candidates should have at least one year of work experience. With effect from November 2025, such roles will also require a six-month diploma in computer skills.
Mission Karmayogi has made it mandatory for all state officers and employees to complete at least three online courses a year on the iGOT Karmayogi platform. Annual Performance Appraisal Reports will record the completion of these courses for each employee. More than 56,000 employees have already registered.
