UNIVO Education, an online programme-management company has roped in Abhik Bhattacharya for the role of chief human resources officer (CHRO). Bhattacharya moves from UNExt Learning, where he had been serving as the senior director – human resources. His primary responsibility was to design HR initiatives and interventions. This required him to work in close collaboration with the leadership team to drive organisation effectiveness, even while implementing HR programmes such as organisation design, workforce planning, talent management & development, change management and so on.

Having started his professional journey in 2000, with Hindustan Motors, where he spent two years as welfare officer, Bhattacharya moved to Calcutta Medical Research Institute in 2002. There, he worked as HR executive for over two years before switching to The Park Hotels in February, 2005. This stint lasted over a year, and he again made a switch, joining Tata Teleservices as senior executive HR. In 2007, he took up the role of deputy manager HR, at Reliance Communications for a very short stint of about nine months.

His next stop was Airtel, where he joined as HR business partner in 2008. Three years into this role, he was elevated to lead – HR operations India – HR shared services, based out of Gurugram. Another promotion saw him in the post of regional HR head – South West and shifting base to Bangalore. Two years later, he was promoted yet again, making him the head HR partnering – Airtel SBU. With his eight-member team, he successfully headed HR business partnering for the SBU, shouldering the responsibility for HR delivery across India for over 6000 employees.

After the longest stint of his career with Airtel, Bhattacharya joined Manipal Global Education Services in 2016, as head HR partnering, operations and TA, for almost three years.

The year 2019 saw him at MeriTrac Services, as head of human resources. He was based out of Bengaluru for over three years strategizing and driving HR initiatives across the four stages of the employee lifecycle, that is, talent Acquisition, talent management, talent development and talent engagement/ retention.

From June 2022 he was with UNext Learning till the latest assignment.

Known to be a result-oriented and detail-oriented professional, Bhattacharya is sure to be an asset to UNIVO Education, a company that offers services such as programme development and delivery, market development and growth, and student success and support, for top-tier education institutes and universities in India, the Middle East and Africa.
