Commerce International Merchant Bankers Berhad or CIMB, has appointed Animesh Mukherjee as group chief human resources officer (CHRO). Mukherjee moves from McKinsey & Company, where he was expert associate partner for almost a year and a half.
An alumnus of the National University of Singapore, Mukherjee began his professional journey with Hewitt Associates, as business development manager, based out of New Delhi, in 2001. Almost three years later, he moved to Aon Hewitt, as a consultant, to work out of Singapore. In 2009, he was elevated to senior consultant, based out of Bangkok, Thailand. After just over two years into this role, he relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia handling end-to-end accountability for the talent-consulting practice in Malaysia, in terms of go-to-market strategy, revenue targets, client acquisition, service delivery and team staffing. By 2013, he was country leader, handling team structure, leadership hiring and team engagement among other responsibilities.
The year 2014 saw him joining Digi Communications as head – human resource centre of expertise. For over four years, he successfully led the HR-COE team responsible for designing and delivering HR programmes, policies and processes across the value chain of employee experiences. His last held position at Digi Communications was that of advisor – human resources.
Mukherjee’s next stop was Lazada Group, where he joined as acting category director – fashion cluster, Lazada Malaysia. By 2019, he was elevated to chief people officer.
It was in 2022 that he joined McKinsey & Company.
Mukherjee, who holds a BBA degree from Delhi University, is a strategic HR leader with over two decades of experience driving transformation through people and culture. HRKatha wishes him luck with his new assignment at the Malaysia-based bank, which is amongst the largest investment banks in Asia.
