Somraj Roy new CHRO, KEC International

KEC International, a flagship company of RPG Enterprises has appointed Somraj Roy as its new chief human resource officer. Roy who comes with a healthy experience of 25 years in the HR function, specialises in talent management and capability development. He has a specific interest in organisational behavioural dynamics and interventions. The appointment comes after Vasudevan Narasimha left KEC international as an executive director- HR to fulfil his aspirations in an HR advisory firm.

Prior to this role, Roy was working with Larsen & Toubro as the GM-corporate HR. He joined L&T in 1996 as senior deputy general manager- HR, where he was responsible for talent management and organisational development in heavy engineering. Although he spent 21 years of his career with L&T, Roy has also worked with other organisations, such as Reliance and Transpek industries. In fact, he started his journey in the field of HR in the year 1994 as a management trainee-HR with Transpek Industries. After a year, he moved on to Reliance and worked there for another year before moving to L&T.

A graduate from Kelkar College of Commerce, Roy completed his master’s in personnel management and human resources from JDC BYTCO Institute of Management Studies and Research. Additionally, Roy completed an E-HRM programme from IIM Calcutta. He also holds a diploma in labour laws and legislations from the University of Pune.
