Treebo Hotels, the Indian chain of budget hotels, has appointed Purvaja Prabhakar as its head of people & culture.

Prabhakar, who comes with over 13 years of experience across various dimensions of the human resources function, moves from Entrepreneur First, where she was head of founder talent and partnerships, India for over a year.

An alumna of IBS, Bangalore, Purvaja began her professional journey as a management trainee with Mentorware Inc. in 2006. She then worked for IBM as senior HR generalist for over two and a half years, based out of Bangalore, before joining Deloitte as human resource analyst in 2010.

In 2011, she became a recruiter for McKinsey & Company. During her long and successful six-year association with McKinsey, managed key relationships with the premier B-schools of the country, including the IIMs. She also looked after the associate hiring. In 2018, she joined McKinsey full time, based out of Dubai. She was responsible for sourcing and attracting high- quality talent from the European region into the Middle East office.

Her stint with Entrepreneur First lasted over a year, from Jan 2021 to Feb 2022.

In her latest role at Treebo, Prabhakar will be responsible for delivering on the Company’s aggressive talent-acquisition requirements, nurturing high-performing teams, and preserving and strengthening the organisational culture. She will look into these areas for Treebo’s SaaS business, Hotel Superhero too.

She will be based out of the Treebo headquarters, Bangalore.

Sidharth Gupta, co-founder, Treebo Hotels said, “As we grow, we want to ensure that we keep our culture, the soul of our organisation, intact”.

As head of the people function, Gupta relies on Prabhakar to “play the anchor role in achieving this objective” and is confident that she will “lead this crucial agenda for us”, given her rich experience and “great cultural foundations”.

Prabhakar, who is “thrilled to join the growth story of Treebo”, will use this opportunity to “build a people strategy to support Treebo’s tremendous growth” and is “looking forward to connecting with the organisation at large and working closely with the leadership team to strengthen the people function”.

Treebo Hotels operates a network of 800+ hotels across 100+ cities working under its brand.
