The Punjab State Power Corporation has revived the once discontinued practice of hiring on compassionate grounds.

Recently, two high courts have dismissed pleas on hiring on compassionate grounds saying that this cannot be claimed as a right.

The employers or administrative authorities had opposed the hiring.

However, there are 153 lucky ones in Punjab who landed jobs on compassionate grounds. The Punjab State Power Corporation (PSPCL) has revived the practice of hiring on compassionate grounds – something which was discontinued a while back.

The state-owned company offered jobs to 153 dependents of employees who had died in service.

Gurpreet Singh Kangar, power minister, Punjab Government, who handed over appointment letters at a function in Bathinda, said that no deserving person will be ignored when it comes to providing jobs on compassionate grounds.

Apart from these 153 hires, PSPCL has also made1889 appointments to different posts in the last few months. 300 additional appointments will be done shortly and there is an opening for fresh recruitment to 488 posts.
