Srijan Agarwal, BTech student of computer science at the Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Handicapped (AITH), Kanpur, has bagged a job with Microsoft at an annual package of Rs 50 lakhs.

What makes her achievement even more significant is the fact that she comes from a Hindi medium background, according to media reports, which posed a lot of challenges for her. Yet, she not only managed to work hard and overcome all hurdles but was able to bag an internship with Microsoft in the second year of her course. And now this pre-placement offer is the icing on the cake.

In May 2021, Deepthi Narkuti, who completed BTech from the Osmania College of Engineering in Hyderabad was offered a package of Rs 2 crore by Microsoft.

Earlier this year, in April, Avni Malhotra, a student from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur had been offered a package of Rs 64.61 lakh per annum by Microsoft. This was the highest salary secured at IIM Sambalpur this year. In fact, as per the Institute’s social-media post, this offer had increased the highest salary offered the year before by 146.7 per cent.

Jaipur-based Malhotra managed to clear six rounds of interviews to get the offer. Her three years’ work experience at Infosys stood her in good stead at the interview. She completed a BTech in computer science just like Agarwal did, but from a prestigious IIM.
