IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company (IFFCO-TOKIO GIC) has announced a leadership transition, appointing Tatsuya Fujimoto as its managing director and CEO effective 2 September 2026.

The appointment marks a homecoming for Fujimoto, who had earlier served as senior executive director and chief risk officer at IFFCO-TOKIO from November 2024 to June 2025 and was director-operations prior to the elevation. He had also spent two months in Mumbai as an executive trainee in 2016.

With nearly 30 years at Tokio Marine, Fujimoto brings 18 years in Japan across marketing, corporate planning and as executive secretary to the group CEO, and 10 years overseas in the US, Malaysia, India and as deputy CEO of First Insurance Company of Hawaii. He began his career in sales in July 1998.

An expert Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Fujimoto is an alumnus of Keio University with a Bachelor’s in Economics and has studied at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His expertise spans underwriting across commercial, personal, corporate and reinsurance, customer analytics, strategic planning and data-driven transformation.

Commenting on his appointment, Fujimoto stated he was honoured to lead the company into its next chapter and would leverage the strength of both promoters – IFFCO’s brand and network and Tokio Marine’s deep risk- management expertise – to drive innovation and long-term value for customers, intermediaries and society.

IFFCO-TOKIO, a 51:49 joint venture between IFFCO and Tokio Marine, said the leadership change underscores its focus on scaling operations and accelerating growth.
