More than 2370 students from 19 institutes across India participated in the campus programme.
Samsung E.D.G.E, the flagship campus programme concluded its second season, which saw participation of over 2370 students (790 teams) from 19 leading educational institutes in the country.
The winner of the second season was team Athena ‘Z’ comprising Sudarsan MS, Saurabh Sinha and Mukesh S from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, which presented its idea around better integration of Samsung’s intelligent interface, Bixby, with consumers’ day to day usage of smartphones.
The second position was grabbed by the team from the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, which showcased a very innovative product that can make life better for young single-person households. The team from the Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow came third. They presented an idea around Bixby.
The competition, which was spread over three months, got an overwhelming response from students across campuses, with participants from a range of domains, such as B Tech, MBA, Masters of Design and Master of Social Work.
The zonal round was held initially, where 10 winning teams qualified for the national finals held at Gurgaon.
The winning team received a prize of Rs 3 lakh and each team member got a Galaxy Note8 smartphone. The team that came second received Rs 1.5 lakh, while the team in the third spot received Rs 75000. Samsung gave away vouchers worth Rs 10000 to members of all the teams that reached the finals.
This year the 10 teams worked on ideas around Samsung’s intelligent interface, Bixby; growth opportunities in smart cities; designing devices for young single-person households; online skilling and certification models and marketing.
The programme provides an opportunity to some of the brightest minds to showcase their skills, exchange ideas and start their careers on a brighter note.
Comprising three rounds, the first round of the programme—the campus round—has the team members coming together to ideate and put up an executive summary of the task completed. Thereafter, the evaluation is done and the top teams from each campus qualify for the zonal round. In this round, all the teams closely work on the case study and present their unique solutions. The top 10 teams at the zonal round are selected and mentored by the leadership on their respective solutions. These 10 teams then compete in the national round, where the winner is decided.
