    Next stop, digitisation: Indian Railways

Indian Railways has finally onboarded the digital train for its human resources, and railway employees will be reaping the benefits soon. While the Government-led organisation had adopted digitisation for customer convenience few years ago, it is now extending the same to its employees.

A mobile application developed by Indian Railways, called HRMS Employee Mobile App or HEMA, was launched by Railway Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav. The app is available on Google Play Store and has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).

Through the application, employees will be able to easily access their service record history and contact relevant authorities, in case any modifications need to be made. With all records digitised, it shall be a smoother experience for everyone.

The Railways employs over 1.30 million (over 11 lakh) people in the country. Naturally, compiling data of the employees itself has been a mammoth exercise for the authorities. However, the Government has been quick on the processes, and according to reports, less than 1/10th of the employees remain to be integrated into the system.

To sign into the app, employees will need to register first using their IPAS ID, following which an OTP will be sent to their mobile phones. Currently, CRIS has launched only the beta version. It can be assumed that the full version will be updated once all the information has been compiled.
